ABOUT IMETT

World-class Gold Coast tourist attractions at IMETT

IMETT Project at Norwell comprises the following components:

Botanic Park Setting
Motor Racing Circuit
Securing the Best Events
International Motor Racing Museum and Cultural Centre
Education
Technology Precinct
Hotel
Theme Park

Botanic Park

Raising the bar for Gold Coast tourist attractions, IMETT theme park is developed within a lush and undulating botanic public space, with some 30 hectares used to re-establish native trees and habitat previously removed for agricultural purposes. This significant investment in horticulture has intrinsic aesthetic advantages – creating a beautiful setting for world-class events and surrounding residents, as well as a buffer to noise output.

The parkland itself is developed to attract active and passive recreation, creating the perfect venue for functions, weddings and events, and a nature-based Gold Coast tourist attraction offering self-guided interpretive walks.

Motor Racing Circuit

Designed by world-famous architect Herman Tilke, the 6.5 kilometre long, 14 metre wide motor racing track will be constructed to the latest FIA and FIM specifications, catering for international and Australian motorsport events. The planned circuit features the highest standards of motorsport facility comfort in Australia, including spacious seating with good visibility over the majority of the motor racing circuit, as well as family friendly grassed patches.

The circuit environment and its Gold Coast tourist attractions also provide a catalyst for job creation and education.

Securing the best motor racing events

IMETT plans to bring some of the world’s best motor racing events to Queensland, with world famous faces and international trade promotions establishing a new standard for motor racing in Australia. A large number of major national and international events are well suited to the proposed circuit.

Museum, exhibition hall and arts centre

Adding to the motor racing experience, a number of supporting tourist attractions are incorporated into the Gold Coast project, including sports facilities, museums, exhibition halls and an arts centre. A motor racing museum and exhibition centre celebrates the history and personalities of motorsport with displays that will enhance the precinct’s atmosphere.

Education Institute and Centre of Excellence

Education is a significant beneficiary of the Queensland project. The IMETT Education Institute offers world-class education and training programs at university and TAFE level, partnering with leading education and training providers in Europe and North America. These programs will primarily focus on the areas of motorsport, automotive, tourism and hospitality, environment and sustainability. This will also complement the research and development capability of the technology park.

Television, telecommunications and control centre

The Technology Precinct incorporates a comprehensive data centre to integrate all operational components. This will include studios, operations centres, editing suites, broadcast facilities, CCTV, remote camera facilities, outside broadcast vans and broadband communication facilities, as well as industry leading data, water and power reticulation via ‘smart management’ systems.

Tourist village and accommodation

Motorsport is an international sport, so IMETT will introduce a truly international flavour to Gold Coast tourist attractions. A range of accommodation and catering facilities is planned for the IMETT Project, including one or more hotels, self catering apartments, backpacker lodges and low cost student accommodation for the IMETT Education Centre of Excellence.

Theme Park

Bringing an international flavour to Queensland theme parks, the Gold Coast IMETT project will provide a range of accommodation and catering facilities. Plans include one or more hotels, self catering apartments, backpacker lodges and low cost student accommodation for the IMETT Education Centre of Excellence.
